A range of Stress Management, Mental Health and General Well-being programmes are run by ExcelUCan. These training courses focus on providing support for either you individually or for staff in the workplace who are serious about tackling their health issues.
The training or coaching sessions will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to look after your health and well-being. Each of the training programs stated below can also help you to become more resilient whilst working to reduce your stress-levels and thereby improving your personal and professional growth.
Resilience is the ability to rebound from, and adjust easily to challenges or change. The key words here are, ‘rebound’ and ‘adjust’. True resilience is not defined by pushing yourself relentlessly towards stress, and eventual burnout.
Although we are all different, there still needs to be a growing awareness to do what is necessary to prevent debilitating stress and burnout.
‘Statistics [2018/2019] show that work-related stress, leading to poor mental health, is a significant issue with more than 15.4 million working days lost (Health and Safety Executive – HSE).
Additionally, according to the HSE, in the public sector, health and social work activities combined account for approximately 2,120 cases per 10,000 workers.
Amongst these statistics lie those of the education sector, approximately 1,940 cases per 100,000 of stress-related illness. The reasons cited often include workload, poor work-life balance and an insufficient understanding about how to tackle management or employee stress. Public administration and defence reported over 2000 cases per 10,000 workers. Other industries combined, reported over 1300 cases per 10,000 workers.
Unfortunately, the rising number of stress-related illnesses suggest that there is a general lack of understanding about stress, and mental health. The figures also suggest that there is a need for awareness and training in order to improve work-life balance, resilience, mental health and well-being.
